Abomina-Twart!

Always liked Frankenstein since I first read the book as a kid. As a result, I could never really accept the James Whale version of the character. Is my drawing really a faithful depiction Frankenstein's monster, though? You be the judge.

For Harvey

This was done for this week's Comic Twart.

I don't know much about Harvey Pekar. I think I've only read two issues of American Splendor. In fact, probably my first exposure to the guy is through the documentary "Comic Book Confidential". What I do know about is the huge contibution he's made to the American comics.

I hope my tribute captures the spirit of this great man.

Tintin Twart Twart

Here's my belated Tintin. Trying something different again with this one.
One thing I like about Tintin is that there are instances where you have this cartoonish character in an immersive, fairly realistic background and that's what I kind of tried to do here. That said, I have never read Tintin but I probably should. I just like the art.

Looking back, I probably should have treated the background a lot more simply and not spent time on all the hatching and such. I just got carried away with the inking. One thing I did realize while working on this is that inking is pretty fun.

Heroescon!

I'm very excited to be at HeroesCon this year. It's this weekend June 4-6 at the Charlotte Convention Center. This is my first year going there but I've meant to go for a long time now. For most people, Heroescon is the "Artist's Con" where everyone's favourite artists choose to go. I know I have a long list of artists that I plan on meeting for the first time.

Also, I'm excited because at Heroescon will be first-ever ComicTwart panel. With me will be superstar artists Chris Samnee, Tom Fowler, Francesco Francavilla, Andy Kuhn, and Declan Shalvey. So I will be the low guy on the totem pole (as usual). The panel will be this Friday, June 4th at 4pm, room 209! Be there or be square.

So, if you're planning to go to Heroescon, please stop by my table in Artist's Alley. I will be tabling with Joel Carroll--a guy who's hard to miss--at table #634.
